4RU sailors rescue 02 persons from boat mishap in Gregory Lake

 

On 08th December 2018 a boat mishap occurred in the waters of the Gregory Lake after a Jet Ski operated by a rider with 02 more pillion passengers collided with a dinghy plying in the waters with 04 foreigners aboard.

 

As a result of the accident, the 02 pillion riders fell into the water and a Singaporean national named Gayathri Devi onboard the dinghy was left with head injuries. Acting promptly on this occasion, the 4RU sailors rescued the two fell into the water and rushed the Singaporean national to the Nuwara Eliya hospital.

 

Petty Officer PHCP Ghanathikaka XS 29466, Leading Seaman RMUN Bandara XS 33066 and Leading Seaman WMS Kumara XS 45365 engaged in the rescue effort. In a bid to prevent accidents taking place in the Gregory Lake, 04 lifesavers attached to the Rapid Response Rescue and Relief Unit (4RU) have been deployed for round-the-clock vigilance.
