On successfully completion of the Rapid Action Boat Squadron (RABS) ‘Q’ Course of the 24th intake, six (6) officers and forty three (43) sailors passed out at the main parade ground of RABS Headquarters at Gagewadiya, Puttalm on 17th October 2019. The Passing out parade and insignia awarding ceremony was graced by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva, as the Chief Guest.
The trainees followed complete six (6) months of training. Accordingly, they obtained a comprehensive training on life saving as well as rescue missions that are carried out during flood situation in view of protecting the public and their property. Further, the trainees were immersed in a combative spirit of training making use of Cedric Boats, the pioneer force of small boat concept.
In recognition of the training excellence, the course participants were presented with special awards. The award for the Best Trainee and the Best Boat Handler was won by Lieutenant HMSCB Rajapaksha. Able Seaman RHHP Rajakauna received award for the Best Lifesaver while Able Seaman HHTS Hearth received award as the Best Trainee of physical fitness respectively.
Commander Northwestern Navel Area, Rear Admiral Ruwan Perera, Commanding Officer RABS, Commander Conrad Annathugoda, senior officers and family members of the newly passed out RABS personnel attended this special occasion.
