HADR TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR CIVILIANS IN SOUTHERN PROVINCE

Rapid Action Boat Squadron (RABS) of Sri Lanka Navy in coordination with Disaster Management Centre, commenced a programme to provide training for civil communities on how to respond in flood situations. This training programme included both theory and practical sessions on Basic Life support, Basic Swimming and Rescue techniques and Basic Knowledge of OBM trouble shooting. This programme is scheduled to be conducted island wide in all 25 districts.

The first programme of this initiative, was carried out on 26^th and 27^th August targeting Military and Civil administrative officers in Galle district under the supervision of Commander Southern Naval Area Commodore UVMP Perera and it was conducted by RABS Training Officer Lt NN Wickramasooriya.
