Residential Capacity Building Programme on Disaster Risk Management was conducted on 02nd to 05th September 2020 by Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration (SLIDA) for Military Officers and DMC Officers in order to enhance the knowledge and understanding of Overview of Disaster Risk Management. World Food Organization has given financial provision to make programme success throughout the period. Five Naval Officers of Rapid Action Boats Squadron (RABS) in Sri Lanka Navy have participated to the Capacity Building Programme to enlighten the occasion.
Programme was inaugurated with reputed resource personnel and grace the occasion Maj Gen (Rtd) Sudantha Ranasinghe, the Director General DMC with Sri Lankan Assistant Director of world food organization Mr. Andrea Berardo. The programme was comprised with identify basic concept and approaches of DRM, Component of Disaster Risk Management, Legal and Institutional Framework, Importance of International Humanitarian Assistance, Disaster Preparedness Planning, Climate Related Disasters, Flood Risk Management, Landslide Risk Management, Dead Body Management, Public Health Emergencies and Sphere Standards.
The Knowledge and experience shared with others through the Capacity Building Programme would be really helped to enrich the personal grooming of the Officers and reap the expected result in any kind of disastrous situation in Sri Lanka while keeping better coordination with tri forces, Sri Lanka Police and District Disaster Management Units.
