Practical Disaster Management Module for 35th JNSC was successfully completed at Sri Lanka Navy Disaster Management Training School, Gangewadiya on 19th September 2024.

Practical Disaster Management Module is a partial requirement of JNSC. Student officers from 35th JNSC participated actively for the module conducted by SLN-DMTS along with demonstrations in Landslide, Collapsed Structure Search & Rescue and Flood simulators. 19 student officers in JNSC participated for the programme. The student officers were given comprehensive training along with a sound briefing on how disaster management practically happens on ground. Student Officers got the opportunity to be familiar with Search & Rescue methods, First Aid, Triage and Flood Response Techniques used by responders. In addition, student officers were given the opportunity to actively participate for exercises under the guidance of instructors. The intention to include such module for JNSC is to make these officers well aware of what kind of special operations are carried out by each special unit in Sri Lanka Navy. That knowledge is essential to be given as these officers are going to be decision makers and tactical level managers in the future.

Sri Lanka Navy Disaster Management Training School is bearing the responsibility to provide Lifesaving & Disaster Management Training to the personnel of sister services as per the annual training programme and for Police and civil organizations as per request make by them with the approval of Ministry of Defense.
